Let's try to calculate the strategy for several successive bets. Supposing, you do a bet only Red. The chance that Red will not drop out after the first throw (after the startup of roulette) is 19/37 or 0.513513.

The chance that red will drop out neither after the first nor the second throw - 0.263696.

The chance that red will drop out even though 1 of 10 roulette startsup is one thousand as high as the chance that black will drop out 10 times running. Exactly the chance of dropping out red is 99.8725%.

The majority of roulette systems are based on the principle of repeated increases in the bet after a loss. Martingale is the most well known of these systems. Better to say, not the system but principle itself should be named so, because the great number of game systems have been constructed on it.

Some suggest increasing the bet after each loss, others suggest on the inverse, or increasing the bet after a win, while the third apply more complicated combined systems.
